VBAC

A VBAC, or Vaginal Birth After Cesarean, is when a woman delivers a baby vaginally after having a cesarean section in the past. This may be a safe option depending on the type and reason for the prior cesarean, and the number of cesareans in the past. We discuss attempting a TOLAC, or Trial of Labor after Cesarean, with women with a history of cesarean section. All our providers are comfortable with managing VBAC deliveries and both our delivery hospitals support VBAC. Some mothers with a history of a prior cesarean opt to do a repeat cesarean rather than a trial of labor.  Delivery after a prior cesarean is individualized to ensure the safety of both Mom and Baby as well as patient comfort.
