Menopause

Women can experience menopause very differently. By definition, menopause is the loss of a menstrual cycle for 12 months without another cause. Peri-menopause is a period of time when menstrual cycles may become shorter, or skipped altogether. Some women may experience symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, changes in mood or sleep and vaginal dryness. The median age of menopause is 51.4 years, though the peri menopausal period and symptoms can start much earlier than actual menopause.

Because this time period can vary amongst women, we strive to treat each patient as an individual with evidence based options. We offer various hormone replacement therapies, as well as non hormonal options for symptom management.

Bleeding after menopause always needs to be evaluated; we evaluate with ultrasound and if needed, endometrial biopsy and/or hysteroscopy.
